San Francisco, November 17, 2015—Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) today announced that VUDU® customers now have access to a catalog of Warner Bros.® titles remastered for Dolby Vision™ and mixed in Dolby Atmos® to complete the cinematic home theater experience. Consumers with Dolby Vision enabled televisions, like the VIZIO Reference Series, and with Dolby Atmos enabled home theater products can now enjoy a variety of next-generation entertainment content through VUDU.
Dolby’s immersive sound and visual technologies, including Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, provide the complete next-generation home entertainment experience for consumers. Dolby Vision transforms your TV experience with dramatic imaging—incredible brightness, contrast, and color that bring entertainment to life before your eyes. It achieves this astonishing image quality through innovative high-dynamic-range (HDR) technologies that, compared to a standard picture, can deliver brighter highlights, more light-to-dark contrast, and colors never before seen on TV. Dolby Atmos enabled home theater products allow sound to move around the room in a three-dimensional way in order to create a more powerfully immersive and emotive soundscape and experience. Together, the groundbreaking technologies provide viewers with an unparalleled home entertainment experience.
“Dolby is excited to bring Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos entertainment content to consumers,” said Curt Behlmer, SVP, Content Solutions & Industry Relations, Dolby Laboratories. “With this development, Dolby elevates and advances the movie-watching experience at home and provides people with the ability to enjoy movies with ultra-vivid colors, expanded contrast, and immersive sound.”
With the Dolby Vision enabled VIZIO Reference Series 4K television and a Dolby Atmos enabled sound bar or AVR and home theater system, consumers can stream movies from VUDU in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos.
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is expanding their library of 4K Ultra HD movies available in both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos to include Mad Max: Fury Road, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Gallows, San Andreas, American Sniper, Man of Steel, Jupiter Ascending, Edge of Tomorrow, and Into the Storm. Through VUDU, consumers also have access to a library of 4K Ultra HD titles in Dolby Vision only, including Vacation, Focus, Get Hard, Run All Night, The Lego Movie, The Great Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, The Hangover trilogy, Magic Mike XXL, and more.
“With our titles remastered in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Vision and breathtaking sound quality in Dolby Atmos, we know that we are giving our customers a true-to-life film experience that engages them in a dramatically enhanced visual and audio experience.” said Jim Wuthrich, President, Americas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.
“VUDU has always provided customers with the best digital home entertainment experience around,” said Scott Blanksteen, Vice President of Product, VUDU. “We were at the forefront of high-definition digital video with our HDX format, and now, by offering movies with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, we’re again giving customers the opportunity to be the first to enjoy a premium visual and audio experience.
From content creation to distribution and playback, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos have support as an end-to-end solution from critical points in the ecosystem, including A-list Hollywood directors, executives at major studios, OTT service providers, TV manufacturers, and operators worldwide.
